As I Walk

As I walk my mind is freed

From dull responsibility

From angst and negativity

forgotten as I walk

The stomach clenching knot released

As heartbeat syncs with tread of feet

Yet mind continues, unpoliced

and lightens as I walk

The corners of my mind spring-cleaned

To reclaim long forgotten dreams

To contemplate those faery queens

and kingdoms, as I walk

My eyes, unblinkered, see the world

The foxglove blooms, the fern unfurls

The swallow swoops on breeze that swirls

caressing, as I walk

My ears are tuned to streams that babble

Darting fish, a falling apple

As thoughts converge, ideas scramble,

possess me as I walk

Across the stile and down the hill

I hurry home, my book to fill

To capture words with loaded quill

collected as I walk
